The Products

The Westonfence system has been designed for the construction of a robust, low maintenance electric fence. It is fast and easy to erect and cost effective. It is also a very substantial conventional fence without power.

This complete fencing system is centred on the use of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) droppers and fastening high tensile spring clips. Westonfence droppers offer strength and reliability, longevity, resistance to fire and UV stability. Their unique design reduces the chance of shorts when fences are electrified.

The droppers are made in a variety of heights with pre-drilled holes in them. Users have the option of different configurations of either 3,4,5,6,7,8 or 9 wires.

The wire clips are manufactured from 4mm industrial spring wire. They are produced in two different designs: the steel post clip and the dropper clip. The Westonfence system only requires two clips per dropper.

The droppers are stacked in 'slabs' of 30 and can be purchased on pallets (max 1020 per pallet). They can also be purchased pre-loaded onto a Westonfence trailer (available for hire) ready for transportation and construction.

To keep the costs to a minimum, products can be purchased direct from the factory.

The Fencing System

Each Westonfence dropper has been precision drilled. This allows the fencer to pre-thread the wires through all the droppers. The fencer can then run the wires with the threaded droppers lying on the ground. The wires are then strained, the fence is stood up and the droppers are moved into their correct position. They are then fixed in place with the Westonfence steel clips.

Steel posts (star posts) are required to support the fence. Every third dropper is clipped to a steel post with two freestanding droppers in between. This insulates the wires and allows them to be electrified if desired. No strainer posts are required; only end assemblies and corner posts. For a full and detailed description please see Westonfence construction page.

The system also allows droppers to be loaded on long, purpose built trailers. The wires are threaded through the droppers on the trailer. The fencer then ties off the wires to the end assembly and the trailer can be driven down the fence line leaving the droppers behind at the correct intervals. The fence is then strained, stood up and fixed in position with the Westonfence steel clips. For a full and detailed description please see Westonfence construction page.

Westonfence uses

Users of the Westonfence fencing system are using it to:

  • Control kangaroos and other feral animals invading valuable crops and pastures
  • Manage livestock - goats (feral & domestic), bulls, cattle (stud and commercial), sheep (stud, commercial and exotic), deer and camels
  • Provide safe and secure fencing for valuable horse studs
  • Protect exotic livestock such as farmed pheasants from predation by foxes (custom made droppers)
  • Protect airstrips from kangaroos etc
  • Electrify existing conventional fences (with leaning off-sets)
  • Control total grazing pressure
  • Sub-divide paddocks for rotational, time controlled, cell grazing etc
  • Establish improved pastures and allow recovery of desirable perennial native plants in rangeland environments
  • Establish saltbush seedlings
